@SnoopDog

Caribbeancricket.com felt like a little republic of talk, one of those West Indian inventions where men and women who had never met face-to-face could still argue as if they’d grown up under the same mango tree.
A poster, an old hand from decades back, told me that was the place where the interesting characters abode. He spoke their names the way elders speak of cricketers from the leather-ball days: with a mixture of amusement and respect, as if each personality had a signature shot, each argument a familiar flourish. Some, he said, moved on. Some were banned. And whether by exile or by choice, the benches emptied. It’s a small thing, people will say, just a forum, but anyone who has lived in these islands knows how “small things” carry the weather of a whole society. When the lime changes, the village is changing too.

Yes, this management is like the shopkeepers in the villages that didn't adapt to changes. They slowly faded away and today no longer exists.

@Narper

Older folks gradually fade away and post less.

The younger fans have other options where they can post and rarely join legacy forums like this one. There is no content to draw them in.

Two decades ago, your posting options were limited, so you settled here.

Yes. The recent changes to the site, especially the mobile site is annoying.

I have my phone with me every waking hour. I find it easier to navigate and post on pc. But I am not going to turn on my lap top just to post on this site.

I wonder how many younger folks are posters here.

@Narper

Sorry Narps... I was under the impression that Admin was Arawak.

My correspondence was sent to Admin on issues. Could it be he was here before I joined? I am not aware of "Idi Admin"; I will look for that thread.

We had 3 days of 20°C weather last weekend; yesterday 10 cm of snow fell off Lake Ontario. A clipper is heading our way with 20 cm of snow.

Old Man Winter is not giving up without a fight.

At the moment it is minus 7°C as you bask in 30°C plus... enjoy.

I disagree that the perceived decrease in traffic is due to the recent changes made to the site.

To me, it’s more a reflection of where W.I. cricket is, the resulting disillusionment of the fan base, and the toxic insularity constantly on display.

In addition, change is part of life. Same people who cow bawlin bout the website changes are the ones sporting the latest iPhone or android.

If the site didn’t evolve, it dies.

PERIOD!

And show a modicum of appreciation for those that built and maintain the site on their own dime, in their own time while allyuh at it.

Men bawling bout ads as if they paying a subscription for the pivilege .......

Sat, Mar 14, '26 at 5:14 PM

............

I find some posters on this site amusing, posting statements that are not factual and that they know nothing about.

On a site where ads are shown, ad revenue per 1,000 views (often called RPM, or Revenue Per Mille) typically ranges from $1 to $10 for general sites. Estimates vary significantly based on the monetization setup and content type:
Basic AdSense Setup: Generally averages $2 to $5 per 1,000 views.

For owners of such sites, the objective is to attract as many visits as possible. It helps with the bills. I have read on this site where they break even or can accommodate a curry goat game.

To the pseudos on here... How are such things achieved? Not by subscription but by visits. Posters show appreciation by interesting topics, and they visit a site that is user-friendly.

Now, let's just look at the comments on these pages.
