We're talking about the eliminator game here. Such games do not feature rookie umps in other leagues.

the ipl has money, and the quality of the play is generally very high. the umpiring leaves a lot to be desired and this has been a historical issue. im not even expanding on preity zinta blowing out an umpire this year and ishan kishan's wide ball caught dismissal

Pollard was visibly unhappy with a decision made by umpire Nitin Menon in the final over of Mumbai's innings at the summit clash on Sunday which MI won by one run to clinch their fourth IPL trophy.
Pollard was irked with the umpire's decision to not adjudge a delivery by Dwayne Bravo as wide. Mocking the decision, the West Indian all-rounder went on to take strike well away from the stumps and near the 'wide-line' before pulling away as Bravo ran in.

dude....i just showed you nitin menon officiated an ipl before he was even on the elite umpires panel. the 2nd umpire in the last two ipl finals was also not part of the elite umpires list. he was only appointed after the final. They even had him officiate a border gavaskar test match in 2023, when his career in cricket had only officiated for less than two years....in odis and t20s mind you. the bcci and the ipl have nearly unlimited resources but they are far, far from the standard in best practice.
