All over the world, poor people are their worst enemies.

Anway, the message here is that the PNP has made a lot of progress since the last general election, but the level of dissatisfaction among voters is not sufficient for voters to vote them (the JLP) out.

Low turnout favored the incumbents…..

You need an inspirational leader to motivate the base…Comrades dont have that at the moment

You can't rely on that. 60+ % are NOT INTERESTED in EITHER party. We need to make RADICAL changes to our Constitutional arrangements or we will continue down this path and the ppl have shown SAFE SEATS are out. It's NOT APATHY. People literally do NOT BUY what the parties are selling.

It is a generation thing Chrissy...these two last generations , or whatever they call themselves are totally
different from all previous ones. They are apathetic to politics. To get them involved One has to offer far more than money
to them because they are simply not Interested. Same thing happening in USA.

The JLP base has been solid following the Patterson/Simpson regimes.
They will be winning the next election too. Old people like me are a dying political breed.
I don't think the PNP had good campaigners with many of their candidates too.
I would not have had some of them at all.Old heads like McNeil and Duncan are two examples
that stand out to me. Better to have had 2 25 year olds in their place as that would probably would
have engaged younger voters or their age group.
New Leadership ? maybe. Markie aint getting younger...Crawford is best of all there is as the future.
And again, Lisa Hanna's departure left a void of intelligence among other things that the PNP needs to
operate in today's climate.
There are tough times but the PNP needs to regroup and not make hasty decisions as intense self examination and
acquisition of 21st century political nous to meet Jamaica's apathetic folks is of High priority.
They need to learn and speak the language of this generation Jamaicans ..but first they have to find
out what that is.
All in all the PNP made a valiant try and though disappointed, they should not feel any sense of being losers.
They put our some fine ideas for progress. Watch the JLP grab them now and make themselves look wonderful.smile

The saddest thing is not the loss, but the low electorate.Hhaving another minority government elected with such
a minority of the Electorate is unwholesome and this is a loss for Democracy and the Country's future.
We will talk more.

There are those young ppl but there exist also across MULTIPLE generations persons who do NOT VOTE because they do NOT think EITHER party offers ANYTHING they WANT. I KNOW because I have FRIENDS like this. There are also others younger and older who have STATED this online. Our majoritarian structures do NOT encourage more than the two parties and the system as structured is a TURNOFF for many.

The country made the right choice. Still a lot of work to be done, but I really like the progress made by the JLP in lowering the crime rate and improving the Jamaican economy. It's not perfect, but those are indisputable facts. The turnaround from 10-15 years ago has been quite dramatic.

The TURNAROUND heavy lifting was done by PORTIA & PETER after the JLP under Bruce and Audley WRECKED it and it COST them the election.
